DCC Clock · Android, iPhone and iPad

A bedside clock and almanac for the phone you no longer carry.

Give your old phone a second life. Put a retired phone or tablet on the charger by the bed, and DCC Clock turns it into a clock that is clear by day and dim at night, showing not only the time but also the date, name days, holidays and your own occasions.

DCC Clock is in testing with a small pilot group. It is not yet in the App Store or Google Play. If you'd like to try it, write to us. Places are limited.

What it does

Time you can read at night

Digital and analog time side by side, or extra-large time only. A night setting dims the screen on a schedule.

Date and occasions

Today's weekday and date, with the day's name days, public holidays and flag days below.

Your own dates

Add birthdays, anniversaries and other personal occasions. Back them up to a file and restore them on another device.

Week and month at a tap

Tap the weekday for the week and the date for the month. Tap a day for its details. After a short pause the clock comes back on its own.

Finnish, Swedish and English

The calendar tradition and the display language are chosen separately, so a Swedish-speaking household can still follow Finnish name days.

Works offline

No account and no internet connection needed. The calendar data is included in the app.

Made for older devices

DCC Clock is built for phones and tablets one or two generations behind the latest. It is tested on a Samsung Galaxy A32 from 2021, an iPhone 8 from 2017 and a 10.5-inch iPad Pro from 2017, and it runs just as well on current phones and tablets. It is meant to run in landscape, plugged into a charger, all day and all night.

Coming next

More of the days that matter: traditional and commemorative days alongside the name days, and saints' days and name days for more countries. Finland comes first; Italy and Poland are among the next candidates.

Calendar data

Finnish name days are used under licence from the Almanac Office of the University of Helsinki (Almanakka-toimisto). Holidays and flag days come from public sources.
